224 - 533 to 655 feetWhat is pportDs1LineBuildout?
This sets the line build-out (cable-length compensation) for this DS1/DSX-1 transmitter, chosen from a card-specific table of foot-ranges; for example, on the 10-port DSX-1 card, values 1 through 7 correspond to 0-110 feet up through over 655 feet. Because DSX-1 signal levels must be tuned to the actual cable run length to avoid over- or under-driving the line, setting this wrong on this specific port causes pulse-shape distortion that shows up as bit errors that look like a bad cable even when the cable itself is fine. A DSX-1 run of about 300 feet from this port to the cross-connect would call for build-out value 3 (220-330 feet) on the 10-port card.
