Module: CASCADE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CASCADE-MIB::pportAPSsdBerThresh

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.4.2.1.135

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Exponent N for APS Signal Degrade based on BER. A line bit-error-rate above 10^-N causes an SD BER failure to be asserted. SD BER is cleared when the line BER returns to less than 10^-(N+1).

What is pportAPSsdBerThresh?

This sets the exponent N (6 to 9) for this port's APS Signal Degrade threshold; a BER worse than 10^-N raises an SD condition, distinct from the more severe SF failure, which clears once BER improves past 10^-(N+1). Signal Degrade on this specific port is a softer warning tier than Signal Failure (pportAPSsfBerThresh), catching a line that is noticeably worse than normal but not yet bad enough to force a protection switchover, giving an admin advance notice of a link trending toward failure. Setting this to 6 on this port would flag a Signal Degrade condition once BER crosses worse than 1 in a million, well before the line would ever reach the more severe SF threshold that actually triggers a switchover.
