pportAPSrevertiveMode

Module: CASCADE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CASCADE-MIB::pportAPSrevertiveMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.4.2.1.131

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: APS revertive mode. When revertive, after the condition for an automatic switchover clears, user traffic will be switched back to the working line after the pportAPSwtrPeriod expires. Default is revertive.

What is pportAPSrevertiveMode?

This sets whether this port's APS protection switching is revertive, meaning traffic automatically returns to the working line once the fault clears and the wait-to-restore timer expires, or nonrevertive, meaning traffic stays on whichever line it switched to, defaulting to revertive. Nonrevertive mode on this specific port avoids a second disruptive switchover back to a working line that might still be marginal, while revertive mode guarantees traffic eventually returns to the originally-designated working line, so the choice trades a bit of switching risk against long-term predictability of which physical line is actually carrying traffic. An admin who suspects their working line has an intermittent fault might temporarily set pportAPSrevertiveMode to nonrevertive on this port so traffic stays safely on the protection line even after the fault briefly appears to clear.
