nodeState
Module: CASCADE-MIB
OID (symbolic): CASCADE-MIB::nodeState
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.3.4
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: The state of the switch. The switch needs to await the state to be set to active before being fully operational after cold boot, when the NMS is reachable.
What is nodeState?
This reports, and can be forced into, the switch's overall operational state; after a cold boot the switch must reach active(3) before it's considered fully operational and reachable by the NMS. Seeing nodeState stuck at initializing(2) well after a reboot, rather than progressing to active(3), tells a technician the boot sequence hung rather than completed normally.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.3.4 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CASCADE-MIB::nodeState
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.3.4.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CASCADE-MIB::nodeState.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.3.4.1 i <value>
