lportSmdsPduHdrSip3SrcIaScrnFail
Module: CASCADE-MIB
OID (symbolic): CASCADE-MIB::lportSmdsPduHdrSip3SrcIaScrnFail
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.5.1.1.239
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: OCTET STRING
Access: read-only
Description: This object provides the Smds destination address and Smds source address of the last Smds pdu to cause the violation Smds Src Ia Scrn Fail. The first 8 bytes of the octet string (i.e.; 16 digits in BCD format) correspond to the destination address. The second 8 bytes correspond to the source address.
What is lportSmdsPduHdrSip3SrcIaScrnFail?
This 16-byte octet string captures the destination and source SMDS addresses of the last PDU that triggered the 'Src Ia Scrn Fail' violation, meaning the source individual address failed the switch's screening check -- the address exists and is valid but isn't authorized to originate traffic on this port. An admin decoding the source half of this pair can identify a device sending SMDS traffic from an address that isn't the one provisioned for this specific port, a common symptom of address spoofing or a misconfigured CPE. For example, a customer accidentally reusing another site's SMDS address on a new router would trip this violation as soon as it started sending traffic.
