Description: This object provides the Smds destination address and Smds source address of the last Smds pdu to cause the violation Smds Sa Not Found. The first 8 bytes of the octet string (i.e.; 16 digits in BCD format) correspond to the destination address. The second 8 bytes correspond to the source address.
What is lportSmdsPduHdrSip3SaNotFound?
This 16-byte octet string captures the destination and source SMDS addresses (each 8 bytes of BCD digits) of the last PDU that specifically triggered the 'Sa Not Found' violation, meaning the sender's SMDS source address wasn't provisioned in the switch's address table. An admin decoding this pair can identify exactly which customer device sent traffic from an unregistered or mistyped SMDS address, rather than having to guess from a generic violation count. For example, decoding the second 8 bytes as BCD might reveal a source address that was never added to the SMDS address screening table, explaining why traffic from that device keeps being rejected.
