Module: CASCADE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CASCADE-MIB::lportSmdsPduHdrSip3DstGaScrnFail

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.5.1.1.240

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-only

Description: This object provides the Smds destination address and Smds source address of the last Smds pdu to cause the violation Smds Dst Ga Scrn Fail. The first 8 bytes of the octet string (i.e.; 16 digits in BCD format) correspond to the destination address. The second 8 bytes correspond to the source address.

What is lportSmdsPduHdrSip3DstGaScrnFail?

This 16-byte octet string captures the destination and source SMDS addresses of the last PDU that triggered the 'Dst Ga Scrn Fail' violation, meaning the destination group address exists but failed the screening check for this port -- this device isn't authorized to send to that particular multicast group. An admin decoding this pair can identify a customer device attempting to reach a group address it hasn't been provisioned as a member or sender for. For example, a customer trying to send to a trading-floor broadcast group they were never added to would generate this violation with that group's address in the destination field.
