Comparing successive polls of lportInCells against elapsed time gives an actual received cell rate that can be checked against the port's provisioned rate. For example, a jump of 1,000,000 cells over a 60-second poll interval works out to roughly 353 Mbps of incoming cell traffic at 53 bytes per cell, useful for confirming the port is running near its rated capacity.
