lportGlobalDlci

Module: CASCADE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CASCADE-MIB::lportGlobalDlci

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.5.1.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The global DLCI correspondent to the interface if the DLCI is globally significant in the network. Note that this object is read-write only during creation, and read-only after creation.

What is lportGlobalDlci?

This sets the global DLCI value associated with this logical port's interface, applicable when the DLCI is globally significant across the frame relay network rather than only locally significant to this one link. The description notes this is writable only at creation time and becomes read-only afterward, so on this specific logical port, getting the global DLCI assignment right during initial provisioning matters more than usual since it cannot simply be corrected later without recreating the interface. A frame relay network using globally significant DLCIs, where every switch shares one consistent numbering scheme, would need this set correctly to the network-wide DLCI value for this circuit at the moment this logical port is first created.
