cktDeltaBe

Module: CASCADE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CASCADE-MIB::cktDeltaBe

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.6.1.1.141

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The maximum number of bits that the network agree to transfer over the circuit as allowed excess bits during the measurement interval under the CONDITION that the circuit still has POSITIVE excess bit (Be) credits before receiving a frame but will have NEGATIVE Be credits after accepting the frame. The range of this variable is 0 to 65,528 bits. By default, if not configured when creating the entry, it is set to 65,528 bits.

What is cktDeltaBe?

This is the excess-burst counterpart to cktDeltaBc, providing the same kind of grace allowance but for the boundary between excess (Be) credit and being cut off entirely, letting a frame that would push Be credit negative still be accepted under this configured allowance rather than discarded outright. For example, lowering cktDeltaBe from its generous 65,528-bit default to a much smaller value on a circuit carrying only small, uniform frames tightens how much slack is given at the excess-burst boundary, since large straddling frames aren't expected on that circuit anyway.
