Description: The Sustainable Cell Rate is the average transmission rate in cells per second for this circuit. It must be less than or or equal to the Peak Cell Rate.
What is cktAtmSCR?
This sets the average, sustained cell rate this circuit is expected to run at over time, distinct from the instantaneous cktAtmPCR ceiling, and the switch uses the gap between SCR and PCR, along with cktAtmMBS, to determine how much bursting above the sustained rate is tolerated before cells get tagged or discarded. An admin provisioning a bursty VBR circuit would set cktAtmSCR meaningfully below cktAtmPCR to allow headroom for bursts, whereas setting them equal effectively makes the circuit behave like CBR. For example, a circuit with cktAtmPCR of 10000 cells/sec and cktAtmSCR of 4000 cells/sec is allowed to burst up to 10000 momentarily but is expected to average around 4000 over time.
