Module: CASCADE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CASCADE-MIB::cardOperCapabilityBitmask

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.7.2.1.135

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: Bitmask indicating this cards' actual capabilities. A bit is set to one if the corresponding capability is supported. This variable is a bitmask so only power-of-2 values can be assigned (1,2,4,8,16,etc.).

What is cardOperCapabilityBitmask?

This is a bitmask, mirroring cardRequiredCapabilityBitmask, where each set bit indicates a hardware capability this card's actual physical hardware supports, regardless of what the current configuration requires. Comparing this against cardRequiredCapabilityBitmask is the direct way an admin checks for a capability shortfall: any bit set in the required mask but clear in this operational mask means a configured feature is relying on a hardware capability this specific card doesn't actually support, likely causing that feature to silently fail or degrade. For example, the required mask showing the vp-shaping(4) bit set while the operational mask lacks it reveals that VP shaping was configured but this card's hardware can't actually deliver it.
