cardIncompleteFramesFromBus

Module: CASCADE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CASCADE-MIB::cardIncompleteFramesFromBus

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.7.2.1.192

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-write

Description: The number of partial frames received by this card over the Cell Bus which were discarded due to missing BTUs.

What is cardIncompleteFramesFromBus?

This counts frames the card received over the internal cell bus that had to be discarded because one or more of the BTUs making up that frame never arrived. Because a frame is reassembled from multiple BTUs, a rising count here specifically indicates the backplane is dropping or losing individual BTUs mid-transit rather than an external line error, which is a distinct fault domain an admin should trace to the chassis backplane or bus interface rather than the card's WAN-facing ports. For example, cardIncompleteFramesFromBus rising while all external line-error counters on the same card stay flat points the investigation toward the chassis backplane rather than the card's network-facing interfaces.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.7.2.1.192
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CASCADE-MIB::cardIncompleteFramesFromBus

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.7.2.1.192.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CASCADE-MIB::cardIncompleteFramesFromBus.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.7.2.1.192.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> cardIncompleteFramesFromBus.1
