Description: Defines SNMP trap notifications for fault and state-change events on BTI Systems BTI7800 optical nodes.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is BTI7800-NOTIFICATIONS-MIB?

BTI7800-NOTIFICATIONS-MIB defines the SNMP trap/notification framework for reporting active alarms and conditions on BTI Systems' BTI7800 optical transport nodes. It exposes fault-oriented data attached to each notification: which entity raised it, an alarm code, the type of report, a timestamp, a severity level, and whether the condition is service-affecting, along with a free-text description. Its monitoring value is squarely about fault/status detection on hardware and traffic-carrying services: the serviceAffecting flag combined with severity lets an operator immediately distinguish a critical, traffic-impacting hardware or optical-path failure from an informational or minor condition, functioning as the platform's real-time alarm feed. It depends on the base BTI7800-MIB for the entity/object model referenced by entityName and on standard SNMPv2 notification conventions for delivery. It is deployed in service-provider optical transport networks where NOC systems subscribe to these traps to drive alarm correlation and outage response for BTI7800 nodes. Engineers can download the BTI7800-NOTIFICATIONS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BTI7800-NOTIFICATIONS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • BTI Systems BTI7800 optical transport network node

Monitoring Examples

A management station receiving a trap from this MIB would inspect entityName to identify the affected shelf/card/port, code and description to determine the specific alarm condition, and severity plus serviceAffecting to prioritize response, a critical severity with serviceAffecting set to true on an optical entity would demand immediate escalation. timeStamp lets the NOC correlate the alarm against other events, while reportType distinguishes a new alarm raise from a clear/update. Because this MIB is entirely notification-oriented, its monitoring is inherently event-driven rather than polled.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active alarm/condition reports
  • alarm severity level
  • service-affecting status flag
  • alarm timestamp
  • affected entity/component name
