Description: Defines the product OID registry for BlueCat Networks IPAM/DNS/DHCP appliance product lines.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BCN-PRODUCTS-MIB?
BCN-PRODUCTS-MIB is a BlueCat Networks registry MIB defining the object identifiers assigned to the company's hardware platforms and software systems, used as the sysObjectID value returned by each appliance. It does not expose runtime operational data itself; instead it enumerates product identifiers such as Adonis and Proteus appliance model lines and their specific hardware variants. Its role in monitoring is indirect: an NMS uses the sysObjectID value defined here to identify exactly which BlueCat hardware model (e.g., Adonis 1000 vs Proteus 2150) is being polled, which then determines which other BlueCat MIBs and thresholds apply. It has no dependency on runtime data MIBs, functioning purely as an identity/registry module. It is deployed anywhere BlueCat DNS/DHCP/IPAM appliances are managed, as the basis for automatic device-type identification in network management tools. Engineers can download the BCN-PRODUCTS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BCN-PRODUCTS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- BlueCat Networks Adonis DNS/DHCP appliance
- BlueCat Networks Proteus IPAM appliance
Monitoring Examples
This is a pure OID-registry module with no pollable runtime data tables; an NMS would use the sysObjectID value matching, for example, bcnProductsAdonis1000 or bcnProductsPoteus2150 purely to identify the appliance model, not to retrieve any monitoring data from this MIB itself.
