Description:

Indicates that a software environment problem has occurred on the hardware unit associated with the specified index.

An entPhysicalClass of unknown(2) along with both an entPhysicalContainedIn of 0 and an entPhysicalParentRelPos of -1 indicates that the error occurred in the ATM NE but not in any one hardware unit maintained in the MIB table.

What is atmfM4HwSwEnvironAlarm?

This notification trap is sent when the ATM network element detects a software environment problem (such as memory corruption, firmware errors, or environmental violation) on a specific hardware unit. The alarm includes physical entity information to identify which hardware component is affected. Network operators receive these notifications to quickly respond to and log firmware or environmental failures before they impact service availability.
