Description: Manages ATM virtual circuit to VLAN mapping for subscriber traffic on Askey DSLAMs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ASKEY-DSLAM-VC-VLAN-MIB?
ASKEY-DSLAM-VC-VLAN-MIB is a vendor-private MIB from Askey defining objects for its DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) broadband access platforms. It exposes configuration data mapping ATM virtual circuits (VPI/VCI pairs) to VLAN identifiers, along with per-circuit service parameters such as priority, MAC limits, RFC 2684 bridging/routing mode, and IP traffic profiles used for subscriber provisioning. Rather than hardware health telemetry, this module is primarily about software/service configuration status - it lets an operator verify that each subscriber's ATM circuit is correctly bound to the intended VLAN and service profile, which is critical for confirming provisioning correctness and diagnosing misrouted subscriber traffic. It builds on standard ATM and 802.1Q VLAN concepts but is Askey's own enterprise extension rather than a direct dependency on a published IETF MIB. It is typically deployed in DSL access networks operated by telecom carriers to manage broadband subscriber aggregation at the DSLAM. Engineers can download the ASKEY-DSLAM-VC-VLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASKEY-DSLAM-VC-VLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Askey DSLAM (DSL access multiplexer)
- broadband access aggregation device
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll askeyVcVlanTable/askeyVcVlanEntry to confirm that a given vcVlanEntryVpi/vcVlanEntryVci pair is mapped to the expected vcVlanEntryVlanId and 8021p priority for a subscriber line. If vcVlanEntryRfc2684Mode or vcVlanEntryRoutedModeNexthop is misconfigured, downstream traffic for that circuit may be dropped or misrouted, which shows up as subscriber connectivity complaints. Checking vcVlanEntryMacLimit also reveals whether a line is being throttled due to excessive MAC learning, a common indicator of a subscriber-side loop or device flooding the ATM circuit.
What Can Be Monitored
- VPI/VCI to VLAN mapping
- 802.1p priority per circuit
- MAC address limit per circuit
- RFC 2684 bridging/routing mode
- IP traffic profile assignment
- service type per subscriber circuit
