Description: ARRIS D5 video platform channel mode change event log management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ARRIS-D5-CHANNEL-MODE-LOG-MIB?
ARRIS-D5-CHANNEL-MODE-LOG-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for the ARRIS D5 Universal Edge QAM (UEQ), a headend device used in cable television and DOCSIS video delivery networks. It exposes a historical event log of QAM channel modulation-mode changes rather than continuous performance counters, capturing when a channel transitioned between modes. Its monitoring value is in fault and configuration-change tracking: it lets an operator see the timestamp, affected interface, and old/new mode value for each change, helping diagnose unexpected reconfiguration events or flag erroneous mode switches. It has an implicit dependency on IF-MIB-style interface indexing since log entries are keyed to a physical/logical QAM interface. It is typically deployed in cable MSO headends where NMS platforms poll this log to audit channel-mode stability across a fleet of edge QAM devices. Engineers can download the ARRIS-D5-CHANNEL-MODE-LOG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARRIS-D5-CHANNEL-MODE-LOG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ARRIS D5 Universal Edge QAM (UEQ)
- cable headend video/DOCSIS platform
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll d5ChannelModeLogTable, iterating d5ChannelModeLogEntry rows indexed by d5ChannelModeLogIndex, to review d5ChannelModeLogTimeStamp alongside d5ChannelModeCurrentValue and d5ChannelModeNewValue for a given d5ChannelModeLogIfIndex. A sudden burst of log entries for one interface showing repeated flips in modulation mode would indicate an unstable RF path or a misbehaving provisioning script. This is a log/history table rather than a live gauge, so it is best used for post-incident forensic review rather than real-time alerting.
What Can Be Monitored
- QAM channel mode change history
- timestamp of mode change
- previous channel mode value
- new channel mode value
- affected interface index
