Description: The number of input IP datagrams received in software for which no problems were encountered to prevent their continued processing, but were discarded (e.g., for lack of buffer space). Note that this counter does not include any datagrams discarded while awaiting re-assembly.
Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of aristaSwFwdIpStatsDiscontinuityTime.
What is aristaSwFwdIpStatsInDiscards?
Reports how many inbound IP datagrams processed in software were discarded despite having no errors—typically due to resource constraints such as lack of buffer space. Elevated counts suggest the device is under memory pressure or traffic overload.
