apexRdsPollRandomization

Module: APEX-MIB

OID (symbolic): APEX-MIB::apexRdsPollRandomization

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1166.1.31.19.1.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: RDS Polling Randomization Time. Maximum time in minutes to delay polling at startup in order to avoid having many APEXs polling the RDS simultaneously. The actual delay time will be randomly calculated by the APEX and will be no greater than this value. A value of zero means no delay and the APEX will poll immediately at startup.

Once written, the change to this parameter will only take immediate effect after apexRdsConfigApplyChange is set to 'apply'. In order for the change to persist through subsequent reboots or power cycles, the change must be saved via apexSaveConfig.

@Config(config=yes, reboot=no) @Commit(param=apexRdsConfigApplyChange, value=2) @Save(apexSaveConfig, value=2) @File(config.ini, type='ini')

What is apexRdsPollRandomization?

Configures the maximum random startup delay in minutes before the APEX device begins polling the RDS server, preventing a large number of APEX units from overwhelming the server with simultaneous requests. The actual delay is randomly chosen by the device up to this configured maximum.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> APEX-MIB::apexRdsPollRandomization

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1166.1.31.19.1.1.8.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> APEX-MIB::apexRdsPollRandomization.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1166.1.31.19.1.1.8.1 i <value>
