Description: Manages subnet configuration and IP address assignments on Applied Innovation remote access and terminal server devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is AIISUBNET-MIB?
AIISUBNET-MIB is a proprietary Applied Innovation MIB, specifically documented for the AII XIRB platform, used to configure and report IP subnet parameters that are not otherwise reachable through standard SNMP interface MIBs. It exposes a subnet table describing each configured IP address, its associated interface index, netmask, broadcast address, and administrative status, essentially serving as an IP addressing configuration and status registry for the device. From a monitoring standpoint it lets an operator verify that each network interface has the correct IP configuration and confirm whether a subnet entry is administratively up or down, which is useful for detecting misconfiguration or a disabled interface without needing full IF-MIB support. It is a vendor-specific extension used alongside standard IF-MIB (ifIndex) rather than a replacement for it. It is typically deployed on Applied Innovation remote access/terminal server hardware in telecom and out-of-band management networks where IP-level addressing needs to be tracked per logical interface. Engineers can download the AIISUBNET-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AIISUBNET-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Applied Innovation remote access device
- Applied Innovation XIRB terminal server
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polling aiiSubnetTable would read aiiSubnetAddr, aiiSubnetNetMask, and aiiSubnetBcastAddr for each aiiSubnetIfIndex to confirm the device's IP addressing matches the intended plan, and check aiiSubnetAdmnStatus to see if a subnet is enabled. A subnet entry showing an unexpected aiiSubnetType or an admin status of "down" when it should be active would flag a misconfigured or disabled network interface.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured IP address per interface
- subnet mask
- broadcast address
- subnet administrative status
- interface index mapping
