Description: This is a count of the number of packets dropped by this port due to excessive deferral. The deferral time starts at the beginning of each transmission attempt and ends when the transmission starts (regardless of collisions). The deferral is excessive if more than 3036 byte times have passed without the transmission starting.
What is acdPortTxStatsExcessiveDeferrals?
This counter increments when a packet is dropped because the port waited longer than 3,036 byte times (about 24 microseconds) for the medium to become free. Network engineers watch this to detect severely congested links where even deferred packets cannot transmit and are discarded entirely. Example: a value of 10 means 10 packets were lost because the network was too congested to send them, even after deferring.
