This OID shows the measured packet loss from the remote (far-end) equipment side, ranging from 0 to 10,000 where each unit equals one hundredth of a percent. You monitor this to see if packet loss is happening on the far end of your network connection and to catch asymmetric loss patterns (near-end loss different from far-end loss). For instance, a value of 500 indicates the far-end experienced 5% packet loss, while your near-end experienced something different—a sign of uneven network problems.
