Description: The administrative status of heartbeat polling for this SMDS port. ON enables the generation of heartbeat polls, and OFF disables it. Note: the status of this object does not affect the response to heartbeat polls received. We always respond to polls received.
What is accSmdsPortPollingStatus?
This OID controls whether heartbeat polling is enabled (ON) or disabled (OFF) for an SMDS port to detect if the remote system is still reachable. Engineers enable this when they want the system to regularly ping the remote side to detect failures or outages. Example: setting this to ON means the system sends heartbeat probes every 30 seconds; a missing response triggers an alarm.
