acSysSCTPHostName
Module: AC-SYSTEM-MIB
OID (symbolic): AC-SYSTEM-MIB::acSysSCTPHostName
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5003.9.10.10.1.3.11.4
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: SnmpAdminString
Access: read-write
Description: When this parameter is set to any value other than an empty string, SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) uses the value as the value of the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) parameter attached to the INIT chunk. In this case, the FQDN parameter replaces any IP address parameters in the INIT chunk.
This feature enables overcoming NAT problems where the original IP addresses belonging to the endpoint supports are converted into pseudo addresses. When this parameter is not set (default), the INIT chunk is sent without any FQDN parameter.
Range = String[42]. Access: Offline. AC INI-Param: SCTPHOSTNAME
What is acSysSCTPHostName?
This OID stores a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) that SCTP advertises instead of IP addresses, which helps bypass Network Address Translation (NAT) problems. An engineer configures this when the device sits behind a NAT router and internal IP addresses are not publicly routable. For example, setting it to 'gateway.example.com' allows remote SCTP peers to reach the device even if the public IP differs from the device's local IP.
