What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-CFCARD-MIB?

A3COM-HUAWEI-CFCARD-MIB is a joint 3Com-Huawei (H3C) enterprise MIB for monitoring CompactFlash (CF) storage cards used in networking hardware such as routers and switches for firmware and configuration storage. It exposes hardware inventory and status data for each CF card, including capacity, operational status, and I/O error information. Its monitoring value is explicitly a storage-hardware health one, analogous to disk monitoring on a server: it lets an administrator detect a failed, removed, or degrading CF card, or a rising I/O error count that could precede a boot or configuration-save failure. It is part of the shared 3Com/H3C enterprise MIB family used after the 3Com-Huawei joint venture, alongside numerous other A3COM/H3C-prefixed modules. It is typically deployed on H3C or 3Com routers and switches that rely on removable CompactFlash media for storage. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-CFCARD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-CFCARD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/3Com routers and switches with CompactFlash storage slots

Monitoring Examples

No sample object names were provided for this module, so specific identifiers cannot be quoted here. Based on the description, it would expose a table of CF card slot entries with objects for capacity, status, and I/O error counts. An administrator polling the status object would detect a card reporting a failed or absent state, and a rising I/O error counter would reveal a flash module degrading toward failure before it causes a boot or save-configuration error.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CF card capacity
  • CF card operational status (present/failed)
  • CF card I/O error count

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using h3cCfCardIsPresent OID:

Select an H3C/3Com router or switch as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type h3cCfCardIsPresent into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The value indicates whether the CF Card is present or not. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value changes unexpectedly, since whether a CF Card should be present depends on your hardware configuration. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
