Category: ZyXEL Multicast
Description: Manages ZyXEL IGMP filter profiles to control multicast group membership per port on access switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ZYXEL-IGMP-FILTER-MIB?
ZYXEL-IGMP-FILTER-MIB is a ZyXEL enterprise MIB defining the subtree for IGMP filter profiles, a feature that restricts which multicast groups a switch port may join, commonly used to prevent unauthorized IPTV or multicast stream access. It exposes configuration objects such as filter profile definitions, allowed/denied multicast group ranges, and per-port profile assignment. Its runtime monitoring value centers on verifying policy enforcement: administrators can check which filter profile is bound to a port and whether attempted joins to disallowed groups are blocked, a software/configuration-status check rather than a hardware health check. It shares port-indexing conventions with the switch's IF-MIB and works together with the ZyXEL IGMP snooping MIB, since filtering operates on groups discovered via snooping. It is deployed on ZyXEL access switches in service-provider or enterprise IPTV/multicast video deployments requiring per-subscriber or per-port multicast access control. Engineers can download the ZYXEL-IGMP-FILTER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-IGMP-FILTER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ZyXEL managed access switch
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided, but a MIB of this design would typically define an IGMP filter profile table and a per-port profile-binding table keyed by profile ID and port index. An administrator would poll the port-binding table to confirm the correct filter profile is applied to a given port, investigating if a subscriber reports being unable to join an authorized multicast stream.
What Can Be Monitored
- IGMP filter profile definitions
- per-port filter profile assignment
- allowed/denied multicast group ranges
