zhRip2IfConfReceive

Module: ZHONE-COM-IP-RIPv2-MIB

OID (symbolic): ZHONE-COM-IP-RIPv2-MIB::zhRip2IfConfReceive

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5504.4.1.2.3.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This indicates which version of RIP updates are to be accepted. When set to 'rip1', only RIP updates compliant with RFC 1058 are received. 'rip2' specifies to receive RIP updates compliant with RFC 1388 only. Setting 'rip1OrRip2' allows reception of RFC 1058 and RFC 1388 compliant RIP updates. If set to 'doNotReceive', the intreface accepts no RIP updates. Note that 'rip2' and 'rip1OrRip2' implies reception of multicast packets. The default is 'rip1OrRip2'.

What is zhRip2IfConfReceive?

This read-write INTEGER, defaulting to rip1OrRip2, specifies, per its source description, which RIP update versions this interface accepts: rip1 only (RFC 1058), rip2 only (RFC 1388), rip1OrRip2 (both, and implying multicast reception for the RIP-2 case), or doNotReceive (no RIP updates accepted at all). Admins set this to doNotReceive on interfaces where RIP should never learn routes, such as a WAN link to an untrusted network, to prevent accidental or malicious route injection. For example, setting this to doNotReceive(4) on an internet-facing interface would ensure no external RIP updates can influence this router's routing table.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5504.4.1.2.3.1.5
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> ZHONE-COM-IP-RIPv2-MIB::zhRip2IfConfReceive

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5504.4.1.2.3.1.5.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> ZHONE-COM-IP-RIPv2-MIB::zhRip2IfConfReceive.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5504.4.1.2.3.1.5.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> zhRip2IfConfReceive.1
