linkxPeerID

Module: XYLAN-WSM-MIB

OID (symbolic): XYLAN-WSM-MIB::linkxPeerID

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.800.2.7.2.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: The peer ID. This is used as a unique ID to identify a remote entity and to associate links to it. For example, for 'normal' PPP, there is one entry in the link table. For Multilink PPP there are one or more multiple links. In either case the Link table is indexed by Link index (one per link) and by Peer ID. When one or more entrys in the link table has the same Peer ID, then these entries form a group for use either for Multilink PPP, or as a rotary group.

What is linkxPeerID?

This value is a unique ID identifying a remote peer entity, used to associate one or more link table entries with it; normal PPP has one link per peer, while Multilink PPP groups several links together under the same peer ID as a rotary or bundled group. Admins use it to see which individual links belong to the same Multilink PPP bundle or rotary group. Multiple linkxEntry rows sharing the same linkxPeerID tell an admin those links are bundled together as one Multilink PPP connection to that remote peer.
