wfArpBaseNonlocalSrc

Module: Wellfleet-ARP-MIB

OID (symbolic): Wellfleet-ARP-MIB::wfArpBaseNonlocalSrc

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.18.3.5.3.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: DROP_LOG/DROP Parameter indicates whether or not log an invalid ARP source address when processing an ARP request. If DROP_LOG is set, log the invalid ARP source address; if DROP is set, do not log it. In both cases, the ARP request from the invalid source address will be droped.

What is wfArpBaseNonlocalSrc?

This object controls whether the router logs invalid ARP source addresses when processing an ARP request, choosing between log and drop, the default, while in both cases the offending request is dropped either way. It gives an admin visibility into spoofed or misconfigured ARP traffic from addresses outside the local subnet without changing the drop behavior itself, useful for detecting misconfigured hosts or ARP-based attacks. An admin investigating suspicious ARP activity on a segment would set this object to log(1) so each invalid-source ARP request gets recorded for review, rather than silently dropped.
