wwpPingUntilStopped

Module: WWP-PING-MIB

OID (symbolic): WWP-PING-MIB::wwpPingUntilStopped

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6141.2.21.1.16

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: setting this object to true prior to wwpPingActivate will cause the device to ping the specified host until wwpPingActivate is set to false. The object can't be modified once the ping is active. The object returns to 'false' once the ping is halted.

What is wwpPingUntilStopped?

This read-write boolean, when set to true before activating a ping, causes the device to ping the target continuously until the ping is explicitly deactivated, and it cannot be changed once a ping is already active, resetting to false once the ping halts. An admin uses this for an open-ended continuous ping when monitoring a link's reachability over an extended troubleshooting session rather than a fixed-count test. For example, setting this object to true and then activating the ping keeps pinging the target indefinitely until the admin sets the activate object back to false.
