wwpPingPacketSize

Module: WWP-PING-MIB

OID (symbolic): WWP-PING-MIB::wwpPingPacketSize

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6141.2.21.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: The size of the ping packets to send to the target.

What is wwpPingPacketSize?

This read-write value sets the size, in bytes from 1 to 1464, of the ping packets sent to the target, defaulting to 56 bytes. An admin increases this to test larger packet handling along the path, since a bigger ping payload can reveal MTU or fragmentation issues a default-size ping wouldn't catch. For example, setting this object to 1400 tests whether near-MTU-sized packets pass cleanly to the target.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> WWP-PING-MIB::wwpPingPacketSize

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.6141.2.21.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> WWP-PING-MIB::wwpPingPacketSize.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.6141.2.21.1.2.1 i <value>
