Description: Indicates whether the local device should attempt to indicate a dying gasp fault via the OAMPDU flags field to its peer OAM entity. If the system does not support dying gasp capability, setting this object has no effect, and reading the object should always result in 'disabled(2)'.

By default, this object should have the value disabled(2) for Ethernet like interfaces that support OAM. If the OAM layer does not support event notifications (as indicated via the wwpOamFunctionsSupported attribute), this value is ignored.

What is wwpOamDyingGaspEnable?

This OID enables or disables sending a dying-gasp indication to the peer via the OAMPDU flags field when this device is failing (such as losing power); if the hardware doesn't support dying gasp, this always reads disabled(2) regardless of the setting. An admin enables this on devices that support the feature so the far end gets an immediate signal when this device is about to go down.
