Category: Wind River Systems

Description: Registers OIDs for GSI Wind River products, used to identify embedded networking platform devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is WRS-PRODUCTS-MIB?

WRS-PRODUCTS-MIB is a vendor product-identification MIB defining OID assignments for GSI (a Wind River-affiliated entity) switch products used in embedded networking platforms. It exposes only product/hardware revision identification data rather than operational status, performance, or fault data. Its relevance to monitoring is limited to identifying which specific hardware revision or product variant a managed device is, which supports asset inventory rather than active hardware/software health monitoring. It functions purely as a registration/identification MIB and would be referenced by other product-specific status MIBs from the same vendor family for sysObjectID-style identification. It is typically loaded on GSI-based embedded switch platforms, where an NMS resolves each WRS-PRODUCTS-MIB OID to identify the exact product/hardware revision during discovery.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WRS-PRODUCTS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • GSI Wind River-based embedded switch platforms

Monitoring Examples

Sample objects include wrsProduct, wrsProductHwRev, wrsProductHwRev33, wrsProductHWRev34, wrsProductRef, and wrsProductRef318, which are OID identifiers for specific product and hardware revision variants rather than runtime data. An administrator's NMS would use the sysObjectID pointing into this wrsProduct arc to automatically identify a specific hardware revision (e.g., wrsProductHwRev33) during device discovery. This lets an inventory system distinguish between hardware revisions without polling any live status objects, since none are defined here.

What Can Be Monitored
