Description: Defines Compaq WL400 wireless LAN adapter global OID registration and enterprise product hierarchy.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is WL400-GLOBAL-REG?

WL400-GLOBAL-REG is Compaq's vendor-specific registration MIB for the WL400 wireless LAN adapter product line, establishing the enterprise OID hierarchy (compaq.wl400Reg with modules, generic, products, and experimental branches) under which the actual WL400 management objects are organized. As a pure registration/structure MIB it does not itself expose monitorable data such as counters or status values; it exists to define where those objects live in the OID tree for other WL400-specific MIB modules. Consequently it has no direct role in hardware/software status monitoring — that function belongs to the actual WL400 product MIBs registered beneath this tree, such as those covering radio state, association status, or driver version on the adapter. It is inherently a dependency root for the WL400 product's other MIBs, which register their object groups under the wl400Products or wl400Generic branches defined here. It is typically encountered only indirectly, loaded as a prerequisite when compiling or browsing the actual WL400 wireless adapter management MIBs on legacy Compaq-era wireless client hardware. Engineers can download the WL400-GLOBAL-REG file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WL400-GLOBAL-REG. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Compaq WL400 wireless LAN adapter

Monitoring Examples

Other WL400-specific MIBs would register their actual managed objects — such as radio signal strength, association state, or driver/firmware version — under the wl400Products or wl400Generic branches defined by this registration module, keeping the OID namespace organized under compaq.wl400Reg. Because WL400-GLOBAL-REG itself defines only structural nodes (wl400Modules, wl400Products, wl400Experimental) rather than instance data, there are no values to poll directly from this module. A management station would instead browse or compile the child MIBs registered under this tree to get actual wireless adapter status.

What Can Be Monitored

  • OID namespace/registration structure only (no direct monitorable objects)
