vdslPerfESsThreshNotification

Module: VDSL-LINE-MIB

OID (symbolic): VDSL-LINE-MIB::vdslPerfESsThreshNotification

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.97.1.0.5

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description: Errored Seconds 15-minute interval threshold (vdslLineAlarmConfThresh15MinESs) reached.

What is vdslPerfESsThreshNotification?

This notification is generated when the Errored Seconds (ES) counter for a VDSL line exceeds a configured 15-minute interval threshold, indicating that line quality has degraded beyond acceptable levels for that measurement period. Errored Seconds count intervals where at least one bit error occurred, so exceeding the threshold signals that transmission errors are occurring too frequently, potentially due to noise, signal attenuation, or equipment failure. Network operators receiving this trap should investigate line conditions and may need to adjust line parameters or replace equipment to restore acceptable service quality.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' VDSL-LINE-MIB::vdslPerfESsThreshNotification
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.97.1.0.5

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:56819->[192.168.30.10]:162]:

  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: VDSL-LINE-MIB::vdslPerfESsThreshNotification
