usrTcpAheadofSegDropped

Module: USR-TCP-MIB

OID (symbolic): USR-TCP-MIB::usrTcpAheadofSegDropped

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.429.4.45.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-only

Description: Ahead of TCP sequences received and dropped counter can also be a good indication of network packet dropping

What is usrTcpAheadofSegDropped?

This read-only counter tracks TCP segments that arrived out of expected sequence order (ahead of the current sequence) and were dropped by the stack. Admins watch this counter because a rising value is a good indication of packet dropping somewhere on the network path to this device. For example, seeing usrTcpAheadofSegDropped climb steadily during a file transfer would point an admin toward investigating reordering or loss on the intervening network.
