Module: USR-SNMP-MIB

OID (symbolic): USR-SNMP-MIB::usrSnmpTrapCommValidateAddress

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.429.4.5.4.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: If this object is set to use_address(1), the value of usrSnmpTrapCommIpAddr will be used to validate that the management station is allowed access. If this object is set to use_pool(2), the IP address of the management station will be validate using the list of IP addresses configured for the usrSnmpCommPoolName.

What is usrSnmpTrapCommValidateAddress?

This selects whether this trap community validates against the single address in usrSnmpTrapCommIpAddr or against the pool named in usrSnmpTrapCommPoolName. An admin cares because it determines whether traps sent under this community are restricted to one fixed manager address or accepted from any address listed in a pool. For example, setting this to validate against the single address locks a trap community to only the one IP configured in usrSnmpTrapCommIpAddr.
