usrSnmpCommAccess

Module: USR-SNMP-MIB

OID (symbolic): USR-SNMP-MIB::usrSnmpCommAccess

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.429.4.5.3.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The allowed access for this community. A value of readOnly(1) allows read-only access to user-level objects. A value of readWrite(2) allows read access to user-level objects and write access to writable user-level objects. A value of administrator(3) allows read access to all objects and write access to all writable objects.

What is usrSnmpCommAccess?

This value sets the access level granted to requests using this SNMP community: readOnly, readWrite, or administrator. An admin cares because it directly controls what a manager using that community string can do on the device, from harmless polling up to full read/write access on every object. For example, setting this to readOnly for a monitoring community ensures that community can retrieve counters but can never push configuration changes.

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> USR-SNMP-MIB::usrSnmpCommAccess

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.429.4.5.3.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> USR-SNMP-MIB::usrSnmpCommAccess.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.429.4.5.3.1.3.1 i <value>
