Module: UCD-DEMO-MIB
OID (symbolic): UCD-DEMO-MIB::ucdDemoPublicString
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.14.1.1.2
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: OCTET STRING
Access: read-write
Description: A publicly settable string that can be set for testing snmpsets. This value has no real usage other than testing purposes.
What is ucdDemoPublicString?
This is a publicly settable string, up to 1024 bytes, that exists purely so developers can test SNMP SET operations against this demonstration MIB; per the source, it has no real functional purpose beyond that. A developer or tester writes an arbitrary value here to confirm their SNMP agent and manager correctly handle set requests. For example, setting this to the string "test123" and reading it back confirms the SNMP set/get round trip is working correctly.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.14.1.1.2 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> UCD-DEMO-MIB::ucdDemoPublicString
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.14.1.1.2.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> UCD-DEMO-MIB::ucdDemoPublicString.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.14.1.1.2.1 s <value>
