Category: Trend Monitoring and Analytics

Description: Defines trend analysis objects for tracking performance metric trends over time in network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Trend-MIB?

Trend-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Trend Micro registered under enterprise OID 6101, scoped specifically to the antiVirus/trendMicroSmartProtectionServer subtree that reports pattern-file and reputation-service health for a Smart Protection Server deployment. Its componentVersion group exposes version and last-successful-update objects for several pattern types — tBLVersion/tBLLastSuccessfulUpdate for the base pattern, wCSVersion for the Web Blocking Pattern, wCSSafetyVersion for the Web Safety Pattern, and wCSNewDomainVersion for the New Web Domain Pattern — each paired with a numeric lastUpdateError/wCSLastUpdateError code and a human-readable *LastUpdateErrorMessage. A separate healthStatus group provides lastVerifyError and wCSLastVerifyError codes with accompanying error-message text describing File Reputation and Web Reputation service health. Because pattern currency and reputation-service reachability directly affect antivirus/web-filtering efficacy, this is primarily a software/service-health MIB rather than a hardware MIB, useful for confirming that automatic pattern updates (via AU.exe) are succeeding on schedule. Administrators rely on the Trend-MIB MIB to confirm pattern files stay current across their Smart Protection Server deployment.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Trend-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Trend Micro Smart Protection Server

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls tBLLastSuccessfulUpdate and wCSVersion daily to confirm pattern updates are landing on schedule, checking lastUpdateError and wCSLastUpdateError for non-zero values; a nonzero wCSLastUpdateError combined with a stale wCSLastSuccessfulUpdate timestamp would indicate the Web Blocking Pattern has failed to update, leaving web-filtering signatures out of date.

What Can Be Monitored

  • base pattern (tBL) version and last update time
  • Web Blocking/Safety/New Domain pattern versions
  • pattern update error codes and messages
  • File/Web Reputation service health status
