Description: The value is true if the trap serial number was reset to 0 over the last network element restart. It may be set to false if the network element manager determines that this condition no longer needs to be handled. Sets with a value of true are restricted.

What is tnTrapSerialNumberResetToBeHandled?

This read-write TruthValue indicates whether the trap serial numbering was reset to zero during the network element's last restart, a condition the managing system needs to account for when tracking trap sequence continuity. A management system reads this flag as true after a restart to know it must resynchronize its expectation of trap serial numbers, and can set it back to false once it has finished handling that discontinuity; attempting to set it to true is restricted since only the device itself sets it true on an actual reset. An NMS seeing tnTrapSerialNumberResetToBeHandled as true after reconnecting to a device would know to reset its own expected trap serial-number baseline rather than assume traps were lost, then set the flag to false once it has adjusted.
