trm76xxSpeedLimit

Module: TRANSMODE1100

OID (symbolic): TRANSMODE1100::trm76xxSpeedLimit

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11857.1.2.2.4.1.1.1.11

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: SpeedLimit76

Access: read-write

Description: This parameter indicates the speed limit set for this unit and is used to set a new speed limit. It generates an alarm and disables Line and Client Tx if the Client bitrate is higher than a predefined protocol. The alarm is ceased and Tx is enabled again at a lower value (hysteresis). Speed Limit is deactivated if trm76xxTxMode is disabled(2) or forcedon(3). Speed Limit can be set in 4 modes to allow different protocols: noLimit(1): Any protocol is allowed. lowLimit(2): 100Base-FX, STM1/OC3, ESCON & Video 270Mb. mediumLimit(3): All protocols above + STM4/OC-12. highLimit(4): All protocols above + Fibre channel & Gigabit Ethernet.

What is trm76xxSpeedLimit?

A read-write setting, from noLimit(1) up to highLimit(4) (which additionally allows Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet rates), that caps which client bitrates are accepted before an alarm fires and transmit is disabled; the feature is bypassed when trm76xxTxMode is disabled(2) or forcedon(3). An admin selects the appropriate tier to match the fastest protocol this particular link is provisioned to carry, blocking accidental over-rate signals.
