Category: Access Control and Authentication

Description: Manages TP-Link switch SSH server configuration, key management, and secure remote access control.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TPLINK-SSH-MIB?

TPLINK-SSH-MIB is a TP-Link vendor-specific MIB for configuring the SSH server on managed switches, covering service enable state, host/server key management, and secure remote access parameters such as session limits. Like the companion HTTP MIB, this is primarily a management-access configuration MIB whose monitoring value lies in confirming the software status of the SSH service, whether it's running, which key is in use, and how many concurrent sessions are permitted, which matters for both availability and security auditing. It complements TPLINK-HTTP-MIB as part of the device's overall remote-management surface. It's deployed on TP-Link managed switches wherever secure CLI access is required in place of, or alongside, Telnet/HTTP, and the TPLINK-SSH-MIB download is available to administrators who want to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TPLINK-SSH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • TP-Link managed switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polls the SSH service admin-state object to confirm SSH is enabled (and Telnet is not) on a hardened switch, and checks the host-key status object to verify a key has been generated rather than left unset. The maximum-session and timeout objects are checked to ensure stale SSH sessions are dropped, reducing exposure from an unattended management session.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SSH service admin state
  • host key generation/status
  • maximum concurrent SSH sessions
  • session idle timeout
