Description: Manages TP-Link switch Denial-of-Service attack prevention rules and traffic anomaly filtering.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TPLINK-DOS-PREVENTION-MIB?

TPLINK-DOS-PREVENTION-MIB is a TP-Link proprietary module for configuring Denial-of-Service attack prevention and traffic-anomaly filtering rules on TP-Link managed switches. It exposes configuration objects that let an administrator enable or disable specific DoS defense signatures and view whether the DoS-prevention feature is currently active. From a monitoring perspective it is primarily a security/software-feature status MIB, letting an operator confirm that DoS defenses are enabled and functioning as configured rather than exposing physical hardware sensors. It is a standalone vendor extension with no strong dependency on other MIBs beyond TP-Link's general system MIB tree. It is deployed on TP-Link Layer 2/3 managed switches in small-to-medium business or campus networks where basic DoS attack mitigation is needed at the access layer. Engineers can download the TPLINK-DOS-PREVENTION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TPLINK-DOS-PREVENTION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • TP-Link managed switch

Monitoring Examples

No specific object names were sampled for this MIB; consistent with its stated purpose, an operator would poll the DoS-defense enable/disable status and per-attack-type filter counters to confirm protections are active, watching for a spike in dropped/filtered packets that would indicate an ongoing DoS attempt against the switch.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DoS prevention enable/disable status
  • per-attack-type filter configuration
  • anomalous traffic drop counts
