Description: Manages Transition Networks SSH server key configuration and secure management access.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TN-SECURITY-SWITCH-SSH-MIB?
TN-SECURITY-SWITCH-SSH-MIB is a small Transition Networks proprietary module for enabling and managing SSH-based secure management access on their switches. It exposes a minimal configuration surface, primarily a global enable/disable mode for the SSH server on the device. Its monitoring role is limited but useful for security posture verification: an administrator can confirm whether secure shell access is currently enabled, which is a basic compliance check to ensure unencrypted management protocols are not the only access path. It has no apparent dependency on other MIBs given its minimal scope, though it fits within the broader family of TN security/management MIBs. It is deployed on managed switches in environments where secure remote CLI access must be verified as enabled (or explicitly disabled) for security auditing purposes. Engineers can download the TN-SECURITY-SWITCH-SSH-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TN-SECURITY-SWITCH-SSH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Transition Networks managed Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll tnSSHModeEnable to verify the SSH server is turned on for secure management sessions. If this object unexpectedly reports disabled on a device that should have SSH access enabled per policy, it would flag a configuration drift or a security control that was inadvertently turned off, warranting immediate remediation to avoid falling back to less-secure management protocols.
What Can Be Monitored
- SSH server enable/disable state
