Description:

A tnDMITxBiasEvt event is sent when there is a warning or alarm on Tx Bias current.

What is tnDMITxBiasEvt?

This notification is triggered when the transmit bias current (the DC operating point of the laser in an optical transceiver) exceeds either a warning or critical alarm threshold on a Transition Networks device. Network operators use this alert to proactively manage optical module health and prevent module failures caused by excessive laser bias. Early detection allows technicians to schedule preventive replacement before the module degrades.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' TN-MGMT-MIB::tnDMITxBiasEvt
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.868.2.5.3.0.4

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
