This read-write boolean controls whether this port actively transmits loop protection PDUs to detect loops, or only passively listens for looped PDUs originating elsewhere. An admin disables active transmission on ports where sending extra control traffic isn't desired, relying instead on passive detection, or enables it for the most proactive loop detection on that port. For example, setting this object to false on a bandwidth-sensitive port would stop it from generating its own loop-protection PDUs while still allowing it to detect a loop if it receives one back.
