apathType
Module: TIGER
OID (symbolic): TIGER::apathType
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1978.2.1.6.2.1.2
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: Defines the mode of operation for this Apath: Primary: We send enquiry messages. Secondary: We respond to enquiry messages. Primary-Mute: We won't send enquiry messages. The path is up on on the basis of the connected stream. Primary-Mute-Xlat: Same as Primary-Mute except it enables SABRE/PIA character set translation.
What is apathType?
This setting defines an Apath entry's role: primary(1) sends enquiry messages to check the path, secondary(2) responds to enquiries from a peer, primary-mute(3) never sends enquiries and instead considers the path up whenever the underlying stream is connected, and primary-mute-xlat(4) behaves like primary-mute but also enables SABRE/PIA character-set translation. Admins choose primary on the end that should actively probe the path and secondary on the end that should just answer, or one of the mute variants when enquiry traffic isn't wanted. The default is primary.
