usrTermProtTelnetEscEnabled

Module: TERM-PROT-MIB

OID (symbolic): TERM-PROT-MIB::usrTermProtTelnetEscEnabled

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.429.4.18.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: If set to DISABLED, this object prevents all Telnet Clients from using the escape character during a session. If they enter that character, it will be sent as regular text. If set to ENABLED, the user will be permitted to enter the escape character to use the local Telnet command line.

What is usrTermProtTelnetEscEnabled?

This read-write flag controls whether Telnet client sessions are permitted to use the escape character to break out to the local Telnet command line; when disabled(2), any entered escape character is instead sent through as regular text. Admins disable it to prevent users from escaping out of their remote session into local terminal-server commands. For example, setting usrTermProtTelnetEscEnabled to disabled(2) stops a telnet user from suspending their session with the escape sequence to reach local menu commands.
